What is Democracy India?
Democracy India is a civic-technology platform that closes the gap between the people of India and the people who represent them. Indian democracy is the largest in the world — 543 Lok Sabha seats, ~4,100 assembly seats, hundreds of parties, and a billion-plus citizens — yet the everyday link between a voter and their MP, MLA, or local party worker is thin, opaque, and scattered across dozens of government portals.
Our purpose is simple: make Indian democracy accessible, transparent, and participatory — in the citizen’s own language, from a single trusted place.
We are built consent-first and privacy-respecting (aligned with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act), multilingual (English and Hindi with India’s major regional languages), and grounded in official data sources — the Election Commission, Parliament, and state assemblies.
What services do we provide?
A. Know your democracy
- Constituency Finder & Map — interactive map of all 543 parliamentary constituencies. Find your MP, the assembly segments (MLAs) inside it, and active leaders.
- Representative profiles — searchable profiles for 537 sitting MPs and ~4,100 sitting MLAs across all states, sourced from official election results, with party, constituency, and contact details.
- The Constitution of India — the full text of the Constitution (360 articles) in English and Hindi, plus Dr. Malik’s Real Constitution of Bharat and the Proposed Preamble.
- Government Schemes — discover central and state schemes and check what you may be eligible for.
- Civic News — a curated news feed on politics, governance, and elections.
B. Participate
- Community Forum — moderated discussions on civic issues, organised by topic, with upvoting and reporting.
- Q&A with representatives — ask questions directly to leaders and see answers publicly.
- Messaging — reach moderators and connections respectfully.
C. The Professional Network
A directory where consultants, volunteers, polling agents, data workers, and constituency staff list their skills, experience, languages, and the roles they offer — free for every member. Contact details stay private until a connection is accepted. Leaders, parties, and institutions browse and engage them directly.
D. The Leader / Campaign Workspace
A full command centre for representatives and parties: member roster, consent management, broadcasts, events, tasks, meetings, polls & surveys, a Q&A inbox, content publishing, reports, and an Election-Management “war room” for booths, teams, the electoral roll, expenses, and live campaign operations.
How citizens benefit
- Find and reach your representatives in seconds — your MP and MLA are one search away.
- Understand your rights and your country — read the Constitution in your own language.
- Claim what you’re entitled to — discover government schemes you may qualify for.
- Have a voice — ask questions, join forum debates, respond to polls, and raise local issues.
- Stay informed — a single feed for civic news and updates from your area.
- Your data stays yours — consent-first contact; opt out or request erasure at any time.
- Free at the core — essential tools cost nothing; premium features are optional.
How professionals and agencies benefit
The people who power campaigns and constituencies — field organisers, booth managers, data analysts, designers, pollsters, legal experts, translators, volunteers — are usually found through word of mouth. Democracy India turns that into an open, dignified marketplace.
- A free professional profile to showcase your skills, past campaigns, and availability.
- Get discovered by leaders, parties, and institutions searching the directory.
- Control your privacy — contact details stay hidden until you accept a connection.
- Advertise availability for paid engagements, volunteering, or both.
- Agencies scale their reach to a nationwide base of campaigns.
- A verifiable presence tied to real constituency work.
How leaders benefit
For MPs, MLAs, aspirants, party offices, and institutions, Democracy India is a modern constituency-and-campaign operating system — replacing spreadsheets, group chats, and disconnected tools.
- A verified public profile that citizens actually find, tied to your real constituency.
- Organise your people with a member roster you can build, import, update, and segment.
- Reach constituents lawfully with built-in consent tracking and opt-out management.
- Run the ground game with the Election-Management war room for booths, teams, logistics, and counting-day operations.
- Engage and listen — events with RSVPs, polls, a public Q&A inbox, meetings, tasks, and content publishing.
- Hire the right help fast from the Professional Network.
- Understand your area through reports on schemes, issues, and constituent feedback.
- Institutional pricing that scales with the number of members your party represents.
Data Sources
Representative and electoral data comes from the Election Commission of India, Parliament (sansad.in), data.gov.in, and state assembly sources. Our platform ensures that public data is presented in an accessible, user-friendly manner.
Our operating principles
- Consent-first & DPDP-aligned — no one is contacted or retained without explicit consent; erasure is always available.
- Official sources — data comes from the Election Commission, Parliament, and state assemblies.
- Multilingual & inclusive — English and Hindi today; India’s major regional languages next.
- Non-partisan infrastructure — a neutral civic utility open to every citizen, professional, party, and representative.
